Design That Opens Doors
The designs didn’t just improve our app. They opened up conversations with investors we never had access to before.
Ross Lynch
COO & Co founder
Investa is a UK-first zero-commission options trading. Their mission is to make sophisticated investing accessible to everyone—removing jargon, lowering barriers, and delivering a clean, transparent trading experience.
They came to me with five mock ups. They needed a design partner who could understand their vision and elevate the mocks into a product that could gain traction and raise capital.
Our collaboration started with Product Design, then expanded across multiple design and marketing disciplines.
Problem: Lack Of POC (Proof Of Concept)
Investa’s co-founders Alec and Ross were facing a common challenge among pre-seed startups: As founders they had a lot on their plate, and they needed the right design and creative partners to help them achieve their vision.
The existing UI didn’t effectively showcase the product’s value or usability, making it difficult to build investor confidence and secure the pre-seed funding required to move forward
Need for a Tangible Product Story:
To secure pre-seed funding, the team needed more than slides. They needed a compelling, visual way to demonstrate how the platform worked. Traditional investor decks weren’t enough to communicate the complexity and potential of the product. Without a prototype, investors couldn’t visualize the user journey or assess the viability of the concept, which made it harder to build trust or spark meaningful conversations.

Approach
To help Investa secure the pre-seed investment necessary to build momentum, I focused on crafting clear, compelling design assets that made the product vision tangible and investor-ready.
Rather than pitching abstract features, I designed a complete visual narrative that could be used across pitch decks, demo calls, and social proof.

Collaboration and ideation of the UIs
My approach included:
Polished mockups to distill the core value visually for investor presentations and social posts
High-fidelity user flows that mapped the entire product experience from onboarding to in-app engagement
A clickable prototype that brought the concept to life and enabled hands-on investor demos
A simple marketing website with a clear signup CTA to validate early interest and build an initial waitlist
Each output was tailored not just to show what Investa was building, but to explain why it mattered and how it would work.
I began by:
Auditing and rebuilding the original screens
Designing custom mobile UI mockups formatted for investor pitches and Instagram.
This opened the door to a deeper collaboration. From there, I expanded the feature set into full user journeys, created end-to-end flows for the core experience, designed and prototyped the entire app in Figma, built interactions and animations that reflected the platform’s social-first mission
I didn’t just design an app—I helped shape a vision. Working closely with Investa's founding team, I defined UX principles that would make their product fun, approachable, and community-centered.
My work included:
Complete mobile-first UI with social feed, leaderboard, portfolio tracking, and rewards
Brand-embedded microinteractions and motion to increase delight
Clickable prototype that mirrored a real app experience
Once the prototype was in their hands, the Investa team used it as a visual centerpiece for angel investor meetings. It replaced decks. It became the product.

Initial angel round
Raised with the prototype
The interactive prototype provided a clear, emotional pitch that instantly resonated with investors. Rather than reading through PDFs or theory decks, angels could explore the real experience.
Crowdfunding
Breaking the record
With the design as the front-facing identity of the product, Investa ran a successful crowdfunding campaign that broke platform records.
